The company was founded in 1993 by Oliver Doering, a working musician who couldn't find a rehearsal space when he moved back to his home city Cologne (Germany) after his music studies in Holland. In 2002, his wife Dana joined the company that they have run together since then. Within 25 years, art olive grew into a huge rehearsal center for musicians of all kinds and styles.

The Tonkunsthalle (Sound-Art Hall) is our new space in the East of Cologne (Schanzenviertel in Mülheim). Here, we created many great rehearsal rooms, music lesson rooms, drummers' cabins and recording studios. In all buildings, rooms are available 24-7. Our music practice rooms vary from 12 to 50 m² (110 to 450 square feet) at a price range of 160,00 to 699,00 € per month. We have plenty of parking available. Public transportation is convenient - you can reach our building via trains 3 and 4, stop "Von-Sparr-Strasse".

Check out our spacious Tonkunsthalle lounge that still contains the original industrial 20-ton crane - now holding a double bass. Relax on cozy couches and meet interesting new people. Also available are vending machines supplying music accessories, snacks, coffee and beer. In addition to rehearsal rooms, we offer various types of drummers' cabins: You can choose between two variations of shared drummer's cabins including a drumset by the hour, or a private room just for yourself.

Also, we organize a jazz show with a jam session on selected Sundays at our integrated club Klub der Töne. The club can be rented for live gigs, CD releases, and any kind of party with up to 190 people. It is perfectly equipped for live music, has an industrial-style bar and a little yard that can be used for events.
